A4D’s “ARTISTS FOR DEMOCRACY” A GET OUT THE VOTE ARTIST TALK SERIES -
We know that when students vote big changes can happen. With that in mind, A4D has programmed a series of weekly talks aimed at art students with internationally recognized artists to help inspire art students to get out and vote. We are very excited to have, Ruben Ochoa, Amir H. Fallah, Kandis Williams, Scott Benzel, Christina Quarles, Lauren Halsey and Laura Owens as speakers. Talks run weekly from Sept 16th - Oct 27th. Each artist will give an overview of their work and speak about the significance of voting and political engagement for them. Our virtual artist talks let you visit artists where they work, hear about their processes as artists and their actions as citizens. As a part of our larger P.O.V. (Protest, Organize, Vote) effort to motivate people in the art world to use their voices on the streets, at the ballot box and through their work, these visits give insight into how art and artists can be a part of lasting change in our world. A4D + Swing Left GOTV Letter Writing Parties and Artist Talks!
A4D continues it’s collaboration with Swing Left by hosting letter writing parties combined with artist talks as a part of Swing Left’s “The Big Send” ! We can’t knock on doors this year, but we can make sure people vote November 3rd, 2020. We will be hosting a series of virtual artist talks and letter writing parties where we will be writing and stockpiling personalized voter contact letters to voters in swing states while participants hear about and artist’s work and how they are politically active!
